Dr. Boudreaux

Ok, now that the Blogference is over I just got a chance to take a nice nap and read the Introduction to Make to Stick. Are you really telling me that the Kidney thief story is an urban legend? I could have sworn that was the real deal. Bummer!

Made me think of another one I heard a few years back. Tom Tolbert, pride of Lakewood, CA, Artesia High, and the member of the McDonalds Hall of Fame on Woodroof and Del Amo (along with my sister), shared a story as a guest on the Jim Rome Show once about at NBA urban legend about a guy that they called Dr. Boudreaux.

Word was this guy would approach NBA players in the guise of being a player agent or lawyer or somebody of influence. They'd hang out and then there'd be a similar situation. Players would wake up after having blacked out. Instead of having their kidneys harvested they would instead find lewd polaroids that this guy took with them while they were blacked out. He said NBA players refer to this guy as Dr. Boudreaux. Classic...and disturbing. Tolbert said it was kind of a moral tale to help NBA players to make sure they could trust the people they meet and hang out with.

Just another story that stuck...for me at least :)
